Bob Murray and Alicia Fortinberry are passionate about empowering families with practical skills for building a positive and affirming relationship environment which stimulates each person's innate capacity for optimism and resiliency.
Internationally recognized experts in depression, families and relationships, they have appeared on national television, taught at major institutions and consulted for Fortune 500 companies. Award winning authors of the international best seller Raising an Optimistic Child (McGraw-Hill 2006), Bob and Alicia are sought out by leading US and Australian media including Time Magazine, Parenting, Cosmopolitan, Family Circle, Woman's World, and Entrepreneur.
They have lectured and trained medical staff and professionals at universities and hospitals globally, including Duke, Tufts and JFK Universities in the US and Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital. Their programs for the public, psychologists and human resource professionals are sponsored by the University of South Florida, California Center for Integral Studies and California State University, Northbridge.
Bob Murray, Ph.D.
Bob holds degrees in psychology from New York University and the University of Sydney. Known for his innovative, research-backed theories integrating insights in diverse fields, including genetics, neurobiology, and mind-body health, Bob's curiosity about the human condition led him to live with hunter-gatherers
in the Kalahari and to report on major warfronts for the BBC. His ground-breaking and pragmatic techniques enable people to identify limiting perspectives and behaviors and create a
supportive relationship environment that addresses these and facillitates lasting change. He consults with multinational companies and government organizations on leadership, team building and communication, and is frequently quoted in major media and professional journals. He is a member of the International P.E.N., the American Psychological Association, the Association for Humanistic Psychology and the American Society of Journalists and Authors.
Alicia Fortinberry, Ph.D.
Alicia holds a PhD in organizational psychology from the University of Phoenix and received her Masters from Columbia University School of Journalism. She has written widely on health and psychology for major national magazines and newspapers including Psychology Today, Working Woman and National Employment Weekly. She has extensive consulting and senior executive coaching experience, helping top leaders realize their potential and find work-life balance. She is also a leading psychotherapist and Feldenkrais Practitioner and a pioneer in the development and teaching of techniques for using movement to enhance well-being. She has lectured on her own healing from “treatment resistant” depression, which she attributes in large part to her loving marriage to Bob. She is a member of the Association for Humanistic Psychology and the American Society of Journalists and Authors.
Bob and Alicia currently divide their time between Australia, the US and Asia.
